About JUPEBIM
Persatuan Jurubahasa dan Penterjemah Komuniti Pekak Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur (JUPEBIM) is a Malaysian association committed to strengthening the role of BIM interpreters and improving communication accessibility for the Deaf community.
Established with the vision of creating a more inclusive society, JUPEBIM actively supports interpreter professionalism, community collaboration, public awareness, and accessibility initiatives that benefit both Deaf and hearing communities throughout Malaysia.
As part of our ongoing efforts, JUPEBIM also works closely with organizations, communities, and industry stakeholders to advocate for better accessibility practices and communication equality.
The association was officially registered on 13 October 2020 and began operating in April 2021 when the Covid-19 pandemic situation eased. With a strong commitment, JUPEBIM aspires to provide professional interpreting and translation services in Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia (BIM), also known as Malaysian Sign Language, which is used amongst the Deaf community in Malaysia. To date, JUPEBIM has 48 registered members and all meetings and discussions were carried out via Zoom online.

Membership Application Information
REGISTRATION FEES
The registration fee for each member is RM20. This registration fee is charged only once.
FULL MEMBERSHIP:
Requirement for individuals who wish to apply for JUPEBIM full membership:
Applicants must be 18 years old and above
Applicants must have experience in BIM interpreting
Applicants are Malaysian citizens with a residential address in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor
**Annual Membership Fee: RM 30
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP:
Individuals who do not meet the criteria to apply for full membership are welcome to apply for associate members of JUPEBIM. However, they are not eligible to vote or be voted for, during elections of the Annual General Meeting.
**Annual Membership Fee: RM 20
CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP:
Corporate or Private Companies and individuals who support the objectives of JUPEBIM are welcome to apply for this corporate membership.
**Annual Membership Fee: Minimum RM 1,000
LIFE MEMBERSHIP:
Full members who have at least two years of continued membership with JUPEBIM are eligible to apply for this life membership.
Membership Fee: RM 150

All membership applications will be reviewed by the committee. Membership approval is subject to the decision and discretion of the committee.
